Skelmersdale’s Very Own Foodie Friday,

BITE Social

Tawd Valley Developments, working with Solid Ground, is bringing a brand-new street food event to Skelmersdale Town Centre this summer.

Foodie Friday will bring together some of the north west’s best independent street food traders to the heart of the town centre just in time for the school holidays.

Two free-to-attend events designed to encourage people to spend more time in the town centre and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of food, music and entertainment are lined up for 31st July and 28th August.

And, say the organisers, they are looking to build on the programme.

“Think of our first events as a taster session – pun intended,” said Nik Puttnam from Tawd Valley Developments,  “They will showcase the best of the region and demonstrate that our town centre has the necessary ‘pull’ to bring in new visitors.”

The first event will be on the main town square, in front of the Library and Nye Bevan Pool, starting at midday and running through to 7pm. The events will feature a mix of street food vendors, live music performances, face painting, games, stalls and outdoor seating, creating a welcoming atmosphere for families, young people and visitors of all ages.  Tawd Valley Developments, which has the remit for the town centre’s wider regeneration, is sponsoring proceedings.

Delivered by Solid Ground, Bite already has an established audience across the north west through its regular events taking place in Greater Manchester.  The company has strong existing social media channels, alongside a network of more than 250 food traders, allowing the programme to bring an established street food brand into Skelmersdale while supporting local engagement and participation.

Exciting Town Centre Development Opportunity

Tawd Valley Developments (TVD) is master developer for Skelmersdale town centre and later this year will bring to market the first phase development opportunity.

It is currently in talks with a number of developers as it seeks a proven town centre mixed use specialist to bring forward Phase 1.

TVD is promoting an opportunity that could deliver circa 170 new residential units with new commercial floorspace.

“This will be transformative for Skelmersdale and change the face of this first-generation New Town,” says Nik Puttnam, senior development manager for TVD.

“Our new website sets out a very ambitious 10-15 year vision for the town centre and is the first of 23 projects which cumulatively will transform Skelmersdale going forward,” says Nik. “Get in touch if you see opportunities you can support, and look out for further updates,” he added.
